Types of Heavy Weight Drill Pipe
1.Conventional integral extra-heavy drill rod—— Provide a Transition between drill collar and drill pipe2.The API heavy wall drill pipe have three section spiral—— It was developed for large displacement well and horizontal well.
3.Thick wall spiral drill pipe—— It have better effect in complex drilling conditions
Features
1. Gentle transition between weight and rigidity allows you to drill at higher RPMS, reducing torque and differential pressure sticking. It is intended primarily for directional drilling.2. Heavy weight drill pipe is designed for providing a smooth transition between the heavier drill collar and relatively light pipe.
3. Spiral extra-heavy drill rod is more beneficial to reduce the tendency of differential pressure sticking and benefits the annular cuttings discharge.
4. Because the drill collar bends easily, heavy weight drill pipe simplifies directional control and minimizes connection fatigue problems common to high angle or horizontal drilling.
5. Compared with drill collar, API heavy wall drill pipe reduce the touch with side wall and reduce the tendency of differential pressure sticking.
